Substitute Teacher

Pay: $15-22 per hour

Schedule: As needed

Position Overview

The Homestead School is looking for flexible and dedicated Substitute Teachers to provide coverage as needed. This role involves ensuring a seamless learning experience for our preschoolers in the absence of full-time teachers.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and guide children aged 2-6 years in daily activities.

• Implement lesson plans in alignment with our curriculum.

• Maintain a safe, structured, and engaging classroom.

• Lead outdoor play, exploration, and hikes in all weather conditions.

• Ensure that teachers are properly attired and equipped with appropriate gear for working outdoors in various conditions, including waterproof and insulated clothing, sturdy footwear, and weather-appropriate accessories.

• Support student development and assessments.

• Communicate effectively with parents and staff.

• Adhere to all school policies and childcare regulations.

Qualifications & Skills

• Required: High school diploma or equivalent.

• Preferred: Degree or certification in Early Childhood Education.

• Experience: 5+ years in childcare or early education.

• Must be physically capable of working outdoors for long periods daily in all weather conditions, including rain and snow, and must arrive properly dressed for the conditions.

• Must be able to walk long distances and comfortably lead hikes with children.

• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
