Assistant Preschool Teacher
Pay: $12-18 per hour
Schedule: Full-time or part-time
Position Overview
The Homestead School is seeking a supportive and energetic Assistant Teacher to help implement engaging learning experiences for our preschool students. This role is perfect for individuals eager to develop their skills in early childhood education while working in a hands-on, nature-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in the care, supervision, and learning activities for children aged 2-6 years.
Support Lead Teachers in executing daily lesson plans.
Supervise outdoor activities, including free play and nature hikes.
Ensure that teachers are properly attired and equipped with appropriate gear for working outdoors in various conditions, including waterproof and insulated clothing, sturdy footwear, and weather-appropriate accessories.
Contribute to individualized child development plans.
Ensure a safe, clean, and nurturing environment.
Communicate effectively with parents and staff.
Participate in team meetings and professional development.
Assist with potty training and diaper changes.
Qualifications & Skills
Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience in childcare, early education, or working with young children.
Passion for alternative education and hands-on learning.
Must be physically capable of working outdoors for long periods daily in all weather conditions, including rain and snow, and must arrive properly dressed for the conditions.
Must be able to walk long distances and comfortably lead hikes with children.
Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
Team-oriented and enthusiastic about child development.
