Summer Preschool Teacher

Pay: $15-25 per hour

Status: Temporary position (June 16 - August 15)

Schedule: Full-time or part-time

Position Overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic Summer Preschool Teacher to lead a dynamic summer program. This role involves implementing a stimulating curriculum that supports children's growth while integrating outdoor activities, self-help skills, and gardening experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide supervision and care for children aged 2-6 years.

  • Develop and implement engaging summer lesson plans aligned with our program’s philosophy.

  • Lead outdoor play, nature walks, and exploration (up to 1.5 miles daily in all weather conditions, including rain and snow).

  • Ensure that teachers are properly attired and equipped with appropriate gear for working outdoors in various conditions, including waterproof and insulated clothing, sturdy footwear, and weather-appropriate accessories.

  • Track and assess each child's developmental progress.

  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all children.

  • Participate in parent communication and student evaluations.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting classroom environment.

  • Attend team meetings and school functions as needed.

  • Complete all required training and clearances per PA regulations.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Required: High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Preferred: Degree or certification in Early Childhood Education.

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in childcare or early education.

  • Passionate about outdoor education and hands-on learning.

  • Must be physically capable of working outdoors for long periods daily in all weather conditions, including rain and snow, and must arrive properly dressed for the conditions.

  • Must be able to walk long distances and comfortably lead hikes with children.

  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
