Preschool Teacher

Pay: $18-25 per hour (Salary option available)

Schedule: Full-time or part-time positions available

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Preschool Teacher to develop and implement an engaging curriculum that fosters the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development of our preschool students. The ideal candidate will be passionate about child-centered learning, eager to build a strong community, and enjoy incorporating nature, farming, and gardening into daily teaching.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide care, supervision, and guidance for children aged 2-6 years.

  • Develop and execute engaging lesson plans that align with the Homestead School curriculum.

  • Facilitate outdoor free play, nature exploration, and group hikes (up to 1.5 miles daily) in all weather conditions, including rain and snow.

  • Ensure that teachers are properly attired and equipped with appropriate gear for working outdoors in various conditions, including waterproof and insulated clothing, sturdy footwear, and weather-appropriate accessories.

  • Establish individualized development plans for each child in collaboration with the HS team.

  • Continuously assess and track each child's developmental progress.

  • Ensure a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.

  • Foster clear and positive communication with students and parents.

  • Lead parent-teacher conferences and student evaluations.

  • Maintain compliance with all state and local childcare regulations.

  • Cultivate an engaging and organized classroom environment that encourages exploration and decision-making.

  • Attend staff meetings, workshops, and school functions.

  • Maintain a professional appearance and appropriate attire for all weather conditions.

  • Assist in additional roles as determined by the Director.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Required: High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Preferred: Degree or certification in Early Childhood Education.

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in childcare or early childhood education.

  • Ability to create a learning environment that fosters curiosity and intrinsic motivation.

  • Must be physically capable of working outdoors for long periods daily in all weather conditions, including rain and snow, and must arrive properly dressed for the conditions.

  • Must be able to walk long distances and comfortably lead hikes with children.

  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs. as needed.

  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
